East African Runners Dominate 2017 List of the World’s Fastest Marathoners

In a recent publication by Runners World listing the World’s Fastest Marathoners, and Marathon Courses, East African men and women runners dominate the scene as world record-holders “on record-eligible courses”. On the whole, often known to battle for first place, in this complete list Kenya leads with Ethiopia right behind it.

Click here to view the world record times, most of which are held by African athletes. Four Kenyan and three Ethiopian women made the top 10 women. Of the top 10 men, Kenya dominated on the leaderboards, with Dennis Kimetto at the top along with four Ethiopian men.
