Nigeria: Jonathan Mourns Emir of Gombe, Others

alahiPresident Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday described as “sad” the news of passing away of the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar.

The emir died on Tuesday in a London hospital.

In a statement issued by the Presidential spokesperson, Dr Reuben Abati, President Jonathan said that the monarch, who died on Tuesday in London, ruled with immense wisdom and dedication for many years.

Abati said that the president extended condolences to Gov. Ibrahim Dankwanbo and the people of Gombe State, especially the people of the Gombe Emirate.

He said the president recalled, with appreciation, the warm reception and courtesies extended to him and his delegation by the late Emir during his visit to Gombe for the North-East Economic Summit in December last year.
